The list of issues fixed since SGE 6.1u5 is an interesting read, many of the fixes seem minor in nature.

Lubomir Petrik published the above screencast, check it out.

upgrading gridengine to version 6.1
I'm slowing getting through my backlog of flagged list messages and notes for potential articles. This one is a quickie but I learned a few new things as well -- the "softstop" argument for 'sgeexecd' as well as the new "qstat -terse" syntax....
Rayson pointed out this list post in which Marco has attached a simple text guide for performing an upgrade from SGE 6.0u2 to SGE 6.1. It seems to complement the "6.1 Patch Install" upgrade instructions as well.
Grid Engine 6.1 Update 3 Released
Grid Engine 6.1u3 was released today, read the announcement here:
http://gridengine.sunsource.net/news/GE61u3-announce.html
Interested in seeing what issues and bugs have been addressed since the previous version(s)?
The release announcements usually contain an ASCII formatted list of fixed issues but only the seriously motivated people will use that list to browse into the Issues Database.
To make casual browsing easier, I've marked up the ASCII patch announcements with embedded URLs that deep link into the actual Issue tracking system. This might make it easier for the simply curious to find out more details on a particular (now fixed) issue.
The HTML versions of the patch listings are now listed as sidebar links on this site and I'll explicitly list them here:
6.1 (snapshot 2) with Advanced Reservations is out
From the announcement ...
Announcing Grid Engine 6.1 Advance Reservation Snapshot 2
Regensburg, Germany -- July 5, 2007
Grid Engine 6.1 Advance Reservation Snapshot 2 is now ready and courtesy binaries are available for download. This release is aimed for testing purposes only and not for productive clusters.
This snapshot is based on the Grid Engine 6.1 release and was enhanced with the Advance Reservation (AR) feature. AR will be included in the next major update release of Grid Engine. The functionality allows users or administrators to reserve particular resources for future use. These reserved resources are only available for special jobs and the scheduler ensures the availability of the resource when the start time is reached.

Dan's video intro to Grid Engine Service Domain Management
Rayson pointed out the following Blog post this morning:

Which contains the following great YouTube video of DanT:

Detailed docs on Service Domains and Grid Engine are hard to find. The topic is mentioned a bit in this prior blog post: http://gridengine.info/articles/2006/12/13/its-official-project-hedeby-and-arco-join-the-sge-codebase
Grid Engine 6.1 Preview 2 binaries are available
The latest snapshot of what will become Grid Engine 6.1 has been made available. Keep in mind that this is a preview release to show new features, capabilities and usage syntax -- probably not something you want to run in production mode.
The official announcement has all the details:
