Supporting Haiti

I'm going offtopic for a bit to shill for the awesome company that employs me. BioTeam principal consultant Chris Dwan is taking a temporary leave of absence to accompany his wife (a ninja OB-GYN physician specializing in high-risk pregnancies) and many others who are part of Family Health Ministries - a group that has a longstanding presence in Haiti. Chris & Jen have made multiple trips to Haiti in the past and are returning to the Blanchard Clinic where they have worked previously.

One of the best things about working for a very small company is freedom from the standard middle-management process & policy hassles. When Chris mentioned the trip to us the corporate response was "what can we do to make the trip easier?". BioTeam as a company decided to donate a BGAN satellite internet/phone terminal so that the mission team has a self-sufficient communication infrastructure. Employees donated medical, emergency and camping supplies. My compressed emergency ration bricks and folding solar panel & charge controller made the size/weight cutoff so they are on their way to Haiti in Dwan's luggage.
